Profesor universitar in Departamentul de Automatica si Informatica Industriala, Facultatea de Automatica si Calculatoare din 1991. A creat disciplinele ”Automate programabile si microprogramare”, ”Sisteme de conducere a robotilor”, ”Vederea artificiala in robotica”, ”Sisteme pentru servicii” pentru facultatea de Automatica si Calculatoare din UPB. A infiintat laboratoarele didactice si de cercetare: Automate Programable pentru Aplicatii Industriale, Robotica si Inteligenta Artificiala, Fabricatie Integrata cu Calculator, Arhitecturi Orientate pe Servicii pentru Intreprinderi, Servicii Cloud, si Conducerea Intreprinderii Digitale in UPB. A fost profesor asociat la universitatile din Cartagena si Murcia (Spania), Viena si Krems (Austria), Konstanz (Germania), Valenciennes (Franta). Activitatea de cercetare stiintifica: director in 46 de proiecte nationale si 5 proiecte internationale; autor a 108 monografii si capitole de carte, 34 carti editate, 356 articole stiintifice. Este conducator de doctorat din 1992 cu 44 de teze finalizate. Director al Scolii doctorale de Automatica si Calculatoare din UPB intre 2012-2020 si membru al Comisiei 15 CNATDCU de Calculatoare, TI si Ingineria Sistemelor din 2016-prezent. Laureat in 2003 al premiului ”Tudor Tanasescu” al Academiei Romane, Sectia de Stiinta si Tehnologia Informatiei. Membru al Comisiei de Microsisteme a Academiei Romane. Membru al Comitetelor Stiintifice si Tehnice: IFAC / MIR (Robotics) si MPC (Manufacturing Plant Control) din 1992-prezent. Membru al Societatii Romane de Automatica si Informatica Tehnica (SRAIT) din 1990 si al Societatii Romane de Robotica (SRR) din 1994. Coordonator al Comitetului Stiintific International (CSI) al Organizatiei Europene „Robotics in Alpe-Adria- Danube Region (RAAD)” 2009-2011 si 2013-2014 si membru CSI RAAD din 1992. Membru in Board of Directors ISSIP – International Society of Service Innovation Professionals (2012-2016). Membru al Steering Committee ”Exploring Service Science” IESS (2014-prezent).
