Robotics and Automation (R&A)

Description

The “Robotics and Automation” (RA) master’s program aims to train specialists in the field of Systems Engineering able to meet the demands of the labour market for highly qualified personnel in the new digital technologies of robotics and automation of the ‘Industry of the Future’.

Relevance to the labour market

The educational curriculum of the master’s program aims to ensure the competencies for two classes of occupational profiles:

  1. Automation: process analyst, automation solution developer, designer, consultant, implementation specialist, architect of cyber-physical production systems, researcher
  2. Robotics: expert in robotic processes and services, developer of industrial applications with robots and artificial vision systems, integrator of robots in production structures, consultant, and researcher.

Required knowledge

Sensors and transducers, the basics of automatic control, computer control systems, numerical devices, programmable logic controllers, and programming languages.

Competences and skills acquired

The skills acquired will allow the selection, development and application of scientific concepts and methods in interdisciplinary fields: Automation (alerts to reality, ensuring optimization and prediction of the state and performance evolution, robust) and Intelligent Robots (adaptable to the environment, cooperating with the human operator in conditions of safety and learning from it, with the autonomy of decisions). The program ensures acquiring research, design, and application development skills.

  • Hybrid position-effort control of the non-free movement of robots;
  • Multi-agent systems for swarm robotic systems;
  • Emulating human manipulative gestures with high dexterity in robotics through artificial vision techniques;
  • Development of Digital Twin models for robots;
  • Inter-robot cooperation;
  • Holonic production management systems;
  • Cloud Services in Robotics.
